About Us:
Our Young Adults ministry is a place to connect with others in the 18 to 30(ish) age group.

We meet every Thursday night at the Life House at 7:00 pm. We want to model the Acts 2 church: worship God, fellowship (churchy word for hanging out), pray, learn, encourage one another, eat (yeah, they did a lot of eating together in the early church!) and help our community.

These are nonnegotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of
God churches adhere to. This list is derived from the official
Statement of Fundamental Truths. Click links below to see the

1. WE BELIEVE…
   The Scriptures are Inspired by God and declare His design
   and plan for mankind.
2. WE BELIEVE…
   There is only One True God–revealed in three
   persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the
   Trinity).
3. WE BELIEVE…
   In the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s son Jesus
   was both human and divine.
4. WE BELIEVE… though originally good,
   Man Willingly Fell to Sin–ushering evil and death, both
   physical and spiritual, into the world.
5. WE BELIEVE…
   Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God Through
   ‘Salvation’ (accepting Christ’s offer of forgiveness for
   sin). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]
6. WE BELIEVE… and practice two
   ordinances—(1)
   Water Baptism by Immersion after repenting of one’s sins and
   receiving Christ’s gift of salvation, and (2)
   Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) as a symbolic remembrance
   of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.
7. WE BELIEVE…
   the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a Special Experience Following
   Salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and
   effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. [1 of
   4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]
8. WE BELIEVE…
   The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
   is ‘Speaking in Tongues,’ as experienced on the Day of
   Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.
9. WE BELIEVE…
   Sanctification Initially Occurs at Salvation and is not only
   a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive
   lifelong process of separating from evil as believers
   continually draw closer to God and become more Christlike.
10. WE BELIEVE…
    The Church has a Mission to seek and save all who are lost
    in sin. We believe ‘the Church’ is the Body of Christ and
    consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s
    offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination)
    through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.
11. WE BELIEVE…
    A Divinely Called and Scripturally Ordained Leadership Ministry
    Serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us under
    leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to
    worship Him with other believers, and to build up or edify the
    body of believers–the Church.
12. WE BELIEVE…
    Divine Healing of the Sick is a Privilege for Christians Today
    and is provided for in Christ’s atonement (His sacrificial death
    on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the
    A/G]
13. WE BELIEVE…
    in The Blessed Hope—When Jesus Raptures His Church Prior to His
    Return to Earth (the second coming). At this future moment
    in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves
    and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive
    will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of
    4 cardinal doctrines of the A/G]
14. WE BELIEVE…
    in The Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with
    His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule
    over earth for 1,000 years. This millennial reign will bring the
    salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal
    peace.
15. WE BELIEVE…
    A Final Judgment Will Take Place for those who have rejected
    Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to
    eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire.
16. WE BELIEVE… and look forward to the
    perfect
    New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all
    people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and
    dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on
    Earth. ‘And so shall we forever be with the Lord!’

We meet Sunday mornings at the Sherwood Middle School at 9:30am for coffee, doughnuts, and fellowship, and 10am for worship. We get there at 8:15am to start setting up for Sunday morning service so feel free to come early to help out or to just get to know us.

Immediately following the worship on Sunday morning the kids split off from the adults to go have their own time of worship, learning and having fun.

Wednesday morning is Tea at Ten. Tea at Ten is a women’s bible study which gives ladies a chance to dig into his word with other women and ask the questions that they have always wanted to ask.

Music and Worship are a large part of our DNA as a church. Come expecting a great experience as our worship band leads us into the presence of God.

We know you may or may not believe Jesus is God but we aren’t asking you to change to come to our church, we are simply inviting you to take part on a journey to get to know Jesus.

Our Sunday service starts at 10 AM at the Sherwood Middle School but we begin showing up around 8:15 to set up. Coffee and Donuts are always available before service, so come early and let us get to know you!

• Arlen and Nora Peacock – Lifespring Leader

Arlen and Nora Peacock serve as leaders for Lifespring (Seniors Ministry) with an added emphasis on Families and Prayer. Arlen is a teacher and author, and Nora is a musician and is fluent in American Sign Language.

The Peacocks have been married for 40 years and have seven children and a number of grandchildren.

• Andrew and Lisa Lavier – Young Adult / Young Married Couples Ministry
  

Andrew and Lisa Lavier lead the Young Adult and Young Married Couples ministries of New Life Church. The Young Adult group serves young people from post high school to 30. The Young Married Couples gather once a month to strengthen our marriages and fellowship with one another. Contact Andrew at andrew@sherwoodnewlife.org for event updates

Andrew and Lisa have been married 8 years and are proud parents of two wonderful children: Audrey and Liam.

• Jeremy and Kara Young – Kids and Youth Ministry

At our church both genders are equally valued. Our women are encouraged to be all they can be and we do our best to create a safe place for them to step out and grow in their gifts. Women are appreciated for their contributions as co-laborers with their brothers in Christ. We’re here to build relationships and to share life’s triumphs and challenges as we grow in the Lord. And we have a blast doing it!

There are opportunities throughout the week, specifically for women, to get plugged in and truly thrive:

Tea at Ten: Wednesday mornings, 10am at the Life House

Thursday Evening Study and Prayer Group: 7-8:30pm at Heather Clemans’ home. Women are welcome to come as early as 5:00 to eat dinner together.

Teach – Purposed to building men as they grow in their walk with the Lord, many groups will have a different approach, strategy or concept. The idea is to consistently encourage one another as ‘iron-sharpens-iron’ and always in training for the game plan God has given us through His Word.

Release – The Release Strategy leads and sends men for service to God, to the church and to the community. It is releasing men to live out their God-given purpose.

New Life Sherwood Men’s Group

We are about helping men walk in and fulfill the destiny God has for them.

“When I think of the word Agape I often time think of the Men’s Group at New Life Assembly in Sherwood. Monday’s Men’s Meeting is my favorite night of the week. My life has forever changed with the experiences I have had with the men in this group. It’s a place I can go to discuss any issue I may be facing. The Men are very supportive, kind and non judgmental. Whether I am there for the camaraderie or in need of guidance and prayer it is a place where I am safe. This is a place where you can share your burdens with other men who can relate and pray for reparation and healing, and it happens. I have seen Men successfully overcome issues that they couldn’t have on their own. I have seen Men physically healed while being prayed for. This is truly a time of peace and all men of any age or background can benefit from being there and stay grounded in the principles of the Bible as they relate to a man’s everyday life. I don’t have to be concerned about anything I say being discussed outside the meeting or repeated.” (quotes from men in the men’s ministry)

LifeSpring serves our amazing seniors who are 60-ish (plus or minus). When we gather for our monthly potlucks our motto is: “Ya’ll come!”
